Lenka + Michael’s wedding day was one of quintessentially perfect Palm Beach winter weather: warm sunshine, a light breeze through the towering palm trees, the hushed roar of the turquoise waves breaking on the sand. Everywhere we looked this happy couple was surrounded by their beautiful family and friends, all with grins from ear to ear. Lenka’s twin daughters were the lovely flower girls, and seeing this new family of four enter the reception together was enough to bring a tear to anyone’s eye. The Breakers Palm Beach put on an elegant and perfect celebration, as they always do, and the love and happiness we witnessed made us so glad we were a part of this special day. Thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome, and please enjoy our favorites from the wedding day by clicking below. We first met local Florida girl Kaitlyn and her mother Karla, as we were pulling camera bags from our car before heading into a wedding reception last year. One of those moments of happy coincidence, Kaitlyn was recently engaged and they had just been talking about wedding photographers when they nearly tripped over us. We said a quick hello before going back to work and remember remarking how sweet they seemed, and how nice it would be if they contacted us. Well, happily they did– just a few short months later and it’s time for Kaitlyn + Matt’s engagement session, which we all agreed would be perfect at Coral Cove Park at sunrise. Steve met with the lovely couple just before dawn, on a chilly [for Florida-- all the way down to 64!] morning, their first Florida sunrise in months. Matt recently graduated from West Point, with Kaitlyn’s graduation from the same coming up right before the wedding, so their lives are extremely busy and exciting. We always love hearing the plans our couples have for their lives together; travel, moving, new jobs and new chapters, all mapped out as a new family of two.
A few of our favorites from the session are below; the rest of the images will be available soon in Kaitlyn + Matt’s gallery (click to register).
We love our clients, and we love their weddings; from the most intimate elopement to the craziest blowout party, each event signifies families and friends coming together to celebrate the union of a couple they love to pieces. Natalie + Tim’s elegant black tie ball was no exception. Every part of the day was filled with laughter and smiles, friends and family there to help and witness. We knew when we photographed this beautiful couple in New York last fall (see their engagement session here) that their wedding day would be exceptional, and we were so right. Their kind and gracious natures touched us right from the start, so we weren’t surprised when their families and friends were cut from the same cloth; and wow, these guys know how to throw a party! The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables (Miami) was a stunning setting for their day, with Gesu Catholic Church serving as the meaningful venue for their post-sunset ceremony. The rest of the evening flew by in a flash of candles, white flowers, sparkles, and feather boas.
Wait, feather boas?
Just around the time most wedding receptions would be winding down, guests trickling away and venues starting to clean up, La Hora Loca (The Crazy Hour) began with a bang. Natalie + Tim led the way with beautiful masquerade masks, boas, and flamenco dancers who taught anyone brave enough how to get crazy on the dance floor. (You can probably tell that this was pretty fun to photograph!)
This blog post was impossible to cut down, so click below for our [many] favorites from Natalie + Tim’s wedding day, and click here to be notified when their full gallery is available (8-10 weeks after the wedding day). We hope you enjoy the images as much as we do! :-) (While you’re at it, check this out… they were in the New York Times the day after their wedding, with a photo by the Pogos!)
You may remember Denise + Horacio from their engagement session not long ago, featuring books and laughter and love. Not surprisingly, their wedding captured much of the same flavor, bringing together two vibrant and energetic families, a beautiful traditional church service, and an elegant lakeside reception at the Boca Raton Spanish River Public Library. We loved seeing the theme of books tied carefully throughout the day: from beautifully folded book art and stacks of books at the reception, to customized bookmarks as favors, to tables named for this couple’s favorite authors. (Bonus: we were allowed to go into the library after it closed, for some hush-hush romance in the stacks! Being there in the dark reminded us of the great libraries in this country… the Boston Public Library and New York Public Library of course, but anywhere that values reading and knowledge.) Witnessing the care, tenderness, and affection these two have for each other is a treat, and one of the things we love most about what we do as photographers. Check out our favorites from Denise + Horacio’s wedding day below, and click here to be notified when the rest of the images are available (you can check out their engagement images in the meantime!).
Going into Alex + Jared’s Palm Beach destination wedding we knew that they were drawing people from all over the United States and beyond. Friends and family came from Boston, New Hampshire, California, and Alex’s grandparents flew from nearby (ha!) Romania. (They were a delight.) Some flew in for New Year’s Eve celebrations a few days before the big day, some flew in for the rehearsal, and some were delayed on their way back out for a few days because of the massive cold front and snow hitting the northeast. (Oh darn, delayed in paradise.) South Florida’s weather stepped up to the plate for a perfect day of breeze and “cool” temperatures; though compared to the negative numbers across the US, “balmy” may be a better word.
Alex and her dream team of gals got ready at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, while Jared and his boys stayed at the Breakers just across the water, and despite a few clouds the ceremony was perfectly clear of raindrops. Have we mentioned how amazing everyone looked? Alex was Jared’s “Romanian doll” in her stunning blush gown, and her pretty ‘maids rocked the navy blue dresses. Alex and his guys wore the quintessential suits n’ bow ties, with an excellent collection of varied brown dress shoes and colorful socks (a gift from the groom). As for the ceremony, the couple’s officiant was also a close friend, Justin, who absolutely nailed his job of joining the two in marriage before their loved ones. (And gained a couple of new friends while he was at it.) Heartfelt, hand written vows from both Alex + Jared had the crowd laughing and maybe tearing up a bit; the looks on their faces say it all. After rushing back down the aisle with huge grins, we snuck away with the new Mr. & Mrs. Puma [editor's note: nickname, not real name, though that would be awesome] for some portraits amongst the sculptures, returning for the reception under a beautiful clear tent, sparkling with tiny lights. (The tent was brought in last minute as a precaution against cold temperatures, believe it or not! It didn’t end up being quite as cold as was forecasted, but wind over water can feel pretty chilly if you’re not prepared for it.)
We have absolutely loved working with Alex + Jared, and we were thrilled to discover that every one of their family and friends are just as welcoming and hilarious as they are. We hope everyone makes it back to Palm Beach for a visit soon! In the meantime, click below for some of our favorites from the day, and click here to check out the photos from the PogoBooth, [wo]manned by the delightful Lauren. We’ll have the rest of the images from the big day (and rehearsal!) in the same gallery soon.
