Jackie + Corey were among Emily’s first Florida clients when they got married in 2007. Since then they have been hoping and wishing for a baby to add to their family; and Liam has finally arrived! It’s the sweetest thing in the world to see two parents so incredibly happy. We knew from the moment we met Melanie + Alex that they were going to have a fun wedding… and we probably should have guessed after shooting their engagement session that they were going to look amazing as bride and groom! After a really rainy week everyone was relieved to see the forecast for Saturday; sunny and dry. It was hot (this is Florida, after all), but a refreshing breeze kept the temperature at bay. Melanie + her girls (and her Jimmy Choos) got ready while Alex and his guys played some golf and poker; after a private First Look (just the couple and their personal paparazzi team!) we all headed down the the ceremony overlooking the back of the golf course. This may have been among the brightest ceremonies we’ve ever seen, but it made for some super dramatic photos.
The Ritz put on a beautiful party, and the live band, Wonderama, was fantastic, playing current radio hits that kept everyone dancing and singing along. Mel + Alex coincidentally chose “Lucky” by Jason Mraz as their first dance (our first dance from our own wedding!), and Wonderama did a wonderful rendition of it. We’d like to thank everyone, especially Melanie + Alex, for making us feel so welcome throughout the day! We left at the end of the night smiling and humming our favorite songs from the evening, happy that this lovely couple is starting their married life on such a good note.

After a relaxing day wandering Key West (and playing with the kitties at the Hemingway Home… see one of Em’s instagrams here) we met up with Cindy + Alan to visit some of their favorite parts of the town and take some portraits minus the crazy atmosphere of the wedding day. To beat the heat we had a snack at Kermit’s Key Lime Shoppe, where we discovered that chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick, while it sounds unappealing, is ridiculously delicious. Cindy + Alan already knew this, of course, so they laughed at us a bit.
Wandering through the streets of Key West on a Sunday afternoon was a different experience from the business of Duval Street on a Friday night. Without many cars the roads are quiet; most of the tourists were probably still sleeping off their hangovers (at least until the party started up again after sundown!). Spending a couple of hours with the newlyweds as they kissed and cuddled was a perfect way to end such a happy and fun weekend.
We joined Cindy + Alan for their weekend of wedding celebrations in Key West. The weather was warm, but a refreshingly brisk breeze held a hint of fall, even in this beach setting. Cindy got ready at the Hyatt before their waterfront ceremony, where close friends and family gathered and Alan’s daughter and son served as maid of honor and best man. After portraits around the Hyatt property, everyone waved goodbye to Cindy + Alan as they hopped in a pedicab. We caught a ride with videographer Joanna on her tiny electric car, and she was awesome enough to zoom past the pedicab so that Em could catch a shot (admittedly off-kilter from the way she was perching on Steve’s knees!) of the couple, surprised to see us. Steve shouted, “We’re EVERYWHERE!” before we headed to the reception.
Reminding us a bit of our own intimate wedding, friends and family booked out the entire Ambrosia Bed + Breakfast for the weekend, providing a beautiful courtyard for dinner and dancing. Sparkling string lights, towering trees, a fresh breeze, and the glitter of the pool all lent a hand in the setting, while friends and family got out on the dance floor and seriously danced. Heartfelt speeches touched the couple as well as the guests; after delicious food by the talented Seth Haller, hilarious antics during the garter and bouquet tosses, and lots of yummy cake, it was sweetest to see Cindy + Alan striding confidently away from the reception to the scene on Duval Street, hand in hand.
Many thanks to everyone for making us feel like part of the party! Check out some of our favorites from the wedding day, and click here to be notified when the rest of the images are in Cindy + Alan’s gallery! (And check back soon for their Day After Session around Key West.)
There’s nothing quite like the hush of a sleepy Sunday afternoon in an elegant Southern city. Tina + Angelo donned their wedding clothes again for a relaxed day after session with us in Charleston, the festivities of the night before fading to a happy memory. We love sessions like this… everyone is tired, but the afterglow of the wedding still hangs in the air. Seeing the gentle touch of love between a new husband + wife is a wonderful experience, and certainly makes for beautiful portraits. All our love to the happy couple… and click below for more favorites. (Click here if you haven’t checked out the wedding photos yet!)
