Late night party photos at The Biltmore, Coral Gables

The exuberance of partying guests makes for great scene setting images, and using foreground and background elements to flesh out the story really pulls an image together. This late night reception at The Biltmore in Coral Gables had a solid live band keeping everyone jumping on the dance floor, and the elegant tall vases with flowers and floating candles gave the room a glow to match the chandeliers high above the ballroom floor. Using a wider aperture to draw attention to the elements in focus (the dance floor) while still getting the ambient light from the overhead height and the table decor was a purposeful choice, as was squaring up the image to avoid the “keystoning” effect that often happens with wider lenses and architecture. (Pro tip: try to keep your camera as level as possible on at least one axis in order to keep the resulting image clean.) We love the high energy of dance parties like this, and find that crazy dance floors can be the difference between a wedding that everyone thought was sweet and a wedding that everyone thought was amazing. How to be the most talked about wedding of the season? Try a mix of insane dance floor antics, delicious food, elegant evening gowns and tuxedos, a location to die for, guests from all over the world, soaring ceilings in the reception hall, and romantic candlelight, all topped off with hired flamenco dancers and mardi gras masks. At least that’s what this couple did, and it was a smashing success, with laughter, singing, dancing, and general revelry throughout the entire evening.
