Park engagement session in Jupiter, Florida

Cheryl + Derek's relationship is one of the most relaxed we've ever had the joy of witnessing and documenting. They fit together like puzzle pieces, make each other crack up laughing, and find time to be tender and sweet despite both having very busy careers. (They also take their play time seriously, which is a good way to achieve work-life balance.)

This part of Florida is known for occasional gator sightings, even in public park areas, so swimming in swampy areas is looked at with raised eyebrows of incredulity. Cheryl had just mentioned how she didn't want to slip into the creek just in case, and Derek promptly picked her up and swung her up into the air, threatening to toss her in the water. (Of course he was kidding, and put her down right away.) Our fast focusing equipment and always-ready attitude helped capture this instant while she was at the apex of his fake toss, with her hair and rain boots swinging with momentum. One of the reasons we like this image is that while there are no faces involved you can clearly see what's happening, with definite motion and maybe a bit of uncertainty as to whether he followed through on his intended toss. The colors they chose to wear for their session stood out from the background while remaining relatively neutral and subtle.

Location: Jupiter, Florida.
